Fraternity recruitment can be a daunting and rapid process; there's a reason they call it Rush. At Phi Delt we strive to simplify and help guide the individual and their family through the process.
Recruitment begins in September of every academic year. It involves perspective new members exploring all of the houses on campus with the goal of finding a fit and then hopefully receiving a "bid" or offer from that prospective house. The most important part of the process is finding the place that you feel is the best fit.
Every September the recruitment consists of three main events: first rush, second rush and formal rush. First and second rush are similar to an open house, as we open our doors to students interested in the recruitment process to meet the brothers of our chapter and enjoy some gourmet food prepared by our chef. Formal rush is a suit and tie event by invitation from the active chapter in which potential new members get the opportunity to not only meet a larger section of the active chapter but also our extensive alumni network.
As an interested party do not hesitate to contact us; the most important parts of the entire recruitment process is making a connection with the active members and finding a place that seems like home!
Entering my third year at UBC I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming year. My decision to sign a bid with Phi Delta Theta is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my undergraduate experience. This fraternity will open doors, challenge you, and ultimately bring you to your full potential. You’re not going to want to miss what we have in store for this year so I highly recommend coming out to our rush events and learning more about what Phi Delt can do for you. If you have any questions about recruitment or fraternity life please feel free to shoot me a message!
When I had moved to Vancouver from Alberta, I had never considered joining a fraternity. While I had no idea what it meant to be a part of a fraternity at first. After meeting the active members of the chapter and learning what Phi Delt was about, I instantly knew it was where I wanted to be. The fraternity has provided me with a support network unlike anything I've been a part of. I'm beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to form lasting friendships with the brothers of this chapter, and to continue to make friendships with incoming members. Being a part of Phi Delta Theta has allowed me to grow and learn in an environment of peers and mentors in a way I never imagined. From the academic and personal support, to the social network and lasting friendships, the decision to be a part of Phi Delta Theta is one I've never looked back on.
